Rice Bucket Change

Bahrain’s Rice Bucket Change! initiated in the Kingdom by 4PM News, received an overwhelming response. Thousands of needy people benefitted from this spin-off on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. In addition to hundreds of people giving rice to a needy person, 4PM News received a 1,000 kilograms of rice, from various donors, who requested anonymity. 4PM News, which is the first foreign language evening daily in the Kingdom, realised that it would be a difficult task to distribute this large quantity of rice. So, they called in the cavalry, which was the volunteers from Good Giving Saturday. This group, comprised of people from different countries, provides bags of goodies every Saturday, to poor people. When contacted, they did not even flinch, when told that they would have to distribute over a thousand kilograms of rice. The rice was handed over to them and distributed last Saturday. We hope that you have had the chance to become part of the #4pmnews-RiceBucketChange. If not, do not wait for an invite, start out on your own. Donate a bucket of rice to someone in your area who could do with the rice. Post a photo on Facebook with the hashtag #4pmnewsRiceBucketChange and then invite three other friends to do the same.
